Firm Overview

Divorce Reality

Divorce can be the most emotionally charged form of litigation that any person might face in their lifetime.

Prior to a divorce, the role a person plays in a family is how they most often identify themselves. When the family unit experiences significant change, it can leave one feeling venerable and lost. These feelings are only compounded when the process of property division begins and if children are involved, custody provisions are enacted.

For years I have witnesses the aftermath of divorce and the financial and emotional destruction that can take years to rebuild. Throughout my experience I have also learned that it doesn’t always have to end this way. This is why the Archer Law Firm seeks to make divorce about the individuals and not the expensive process.

Most people don’t understand that for many issues in a divorce, there are guidelines already provided by the Texas Family Code, that if utilized in the correct forum, may bring about results without costly and lengthy litigation. Spouses can be brought together under most strenuous circumstances, and with the help of professionals, find a common middle ground and avoid depleting resources. The majority of courts require this action anyway. So why waste time and money to continuously argue with someone you that you will be free from in a matter of months? Sure the expensive fight might make you feel like a winner, though in the end, if you are left standing in the wake of a storm what have you really won? The “win” isn’t always in the fight, rather it lies in the freedom of ending the marriage with as little personal destruction as possible. This is especially true when children are involved. Certainly, there are circumstances when an aggressive approach is necessary, though this is usually the exception and not the rule.

In every case, it is my mission assist clients in obtaining optimal results while minimizing the timeframe, stress, and animosity that only serves to fuel costly litigation.
